Bio
Brief Bio:
Rosario Iglesias is an Associated Professor (since 1998) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Physiology, University of Valladolid, Spain. PhD in Medicine and Surgery. Degree in Biological Sciences. She is an Ordinary member of the Research Group of the University of Valladolid: «ProtIbio-Plant and Fungal Proteins of Biotechnological Interest».
Teaching:
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Degree in Chemistry (Faculty of Science) and in the Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics (Faculty of Medicine), University of Valladolid, Spain.
Scientific Activity:
Research activity is focused on four main fields: 1) Study of protein synthesis inhibition, 2) Characterization of plant and fungal toxins such as lectins, ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIPs) and ribotoxins, 3) Development of immunotoxins for targeted cancer cells, 4) Plant antifungal proteins and their applications in agriculture. Rosario Iglesias has co-authored 88 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 19 patents of invention.
